Las Vegas Valley Water District
Southern Nevada receives nearly 90% of the water it uses from the Colorado River, which supplies Lake Mead, and about 10%from ground water. Las Vegans use about 178 gallons of water per day per person, an inflated figure because of the number of tourists visiting the city.

Nevada Power Company
Nevada Power gets only 4% of its power from the Hoover Dam. Most of Nevada Power’s energy is generated by coal-fired and natural gas plants in the West. Nevada Power uses purchased power for 45% of Southern Nevada’s power. Residential air conditioning accounts for almost 50% of the energy use annually.
